Geography

At Yardley Wood Community Primary School, children are encouraged to develop a greater understanding of the world around them. We aim to inspire in children a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people which will remain with them for the rest of their lives; to understand the necessity for validating sources and perspectives, along with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. We strive to ensure children understand the interconnected nature of this subject and are able to utilise the skills taught within Geography throughout the curriculum. Geography is able to provoke challenging questions about our place in the world and how views may change over time, which children are eager to find out through investigative processes. Content is purposefully planned and taught in a sequential approach to ensure skills are built upon and revisited in a meaningful manner; this will enable retention and ability to utilise learning throughout their time at this school and beyond.
